Contractor Wanted

FBRS is seeking a private contractor to provide concessions for its “Freedom in Recovery” Comedy & Trivia Night on November 1, 2024, at James Armstrong Theater in Torrance, CA (3330 Civic Center Dr, Torrance, CA 90503).

Concession service will begin at 5 pm November 1, 2024 and continue until as late as 9:30 pm.

Concessions responsibilities include:

  • Purchasing and/or making about 2,000 snacks and drinks
  • Renting coolers and purchasing ice
  • Setting up snacks and drinks before 5 pm so it is ready when doors open
  • Refreshing snacks and drinks supplies throughout the evening

Payment
Payment is $500 for services, and FBRS will cover up to $2,000 upfront costs for concessions such as the purchase of drinks and snacks.

Notes:

  • We will have volunteers to sell the snacks and drinks. You are not expected to sell the snacks and drinks; you are only expected to keep snack and drink supplies fresh and ready to serve.
  • We are open to how concessions will be fulfilled. If you have an idea other than store-bought snacks, please tell us about it. For example, a popcorn cart may be appropriate if you have a workable idea. Note our expense budget for snacks is $2,000.

FURTHER BACKGROUND

Here are some of our preliminary research and ideas, which we are sharing with you as a reference for our expectations of costs and style. We assume the average cost of a snack and/or drink is $1, so this should provide about 2,000 snacks and/or drinks for sale. There is counter space but no refrigeration, and we expect coolers and ice to be used for drinks. We assume limited service, so drinks and snacks should be self-contained, for example, cans of soda, not a large bottle and glasses.
